恒卦上震下巽。震为长男，在外；巽为长女，在内。夫唱妇随，终身相依，故曰恒。
恒卦六爻皆有应：初六与九四应，九二与六五应，九三与上六应。阴阳相与，上下交通，故“亨，无咎，利贞”。
利贞者，守正而和谐。二五相应，初六承九二之阳，九四临六三、六五二阴。阴阳相遇则通，但必以“贞”为前提，故“利有攸往”。
The Heng hexagram has Zhen above and Xun below. Zhen represents the eldest male, positioned on the outer side; Xun represents the eldest female, positioned on the inner side. The husband leads and the wife follows, relying on each other for life, hence the name Heng (Persistence).
All six lines of the Heng hexagram have correspondences: the Initial Six corresponds to the Fourth Nine, the Second Nine corresponds to the Fifth Six, and the Third Nine corresponds to the Top Six.
